MGT 660 Topic 6 CLC-Marketing Expenses, Perceptual Map, and Organizational Chart Analysis

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

Throughout this course, you will work in a CLC group on a strategic case analysis project. This project consists of different parts you will complete each week that build on each other.

Go to the Strategy Club website and review the Sample Strategic Plan for Colgate-Palmolive (2019) under the student resources section. This sample strategic plan is an example of what your completed strategic case analysis should look like at the end of the course.

NOTE: Be sure that the analysis portions of this CLC assignment are completed by the 5th day of the topic, so that you have time to complete your individual analysis assignment by the end of the topic.

Part I – Marketing Expenses versus Rival Firms

  • Go to the Investor Relations page on your company’s website as well as two of its primary competitor’s websites and download the three form 10Ks for the respective firms.
  • Look in the Table of Contents of each Form 10K to find the pages that reveal the three firms’ marketing or advertising expenditures.
  • Prepare a comparative data table to consolidate this information.
  • Prepare a 250-750-word report to suggest implications for your company in terms of marketing or advertising expenditures going forward as needed to implement strategies.

Part II – Perceptual Map

  • Refer to the information on Perceptual Maps in Chapter 7 of the David text.
  • Follow Steps 1 through 5 in Chapter 7 and create a Perceptual Map similar to that in Figure 7-11 for your team’s company.
  • Utilize your Strategic-Planning Template to develop the Perceptual Map for your company.
  • In 100-150 words, summarize the information in Steps 4 and 5 in Chapter 7 and how it influences the firm’s strategy choices.

Part III – Diagramming Existing and Proposed Organizational Chart

  • Refer to Chapter 7 to learn about effective organizational charts.
  • Develop an existing organizational chart for your CLC group’s selected firm. As described in the chapter, use numbers in your chart. Always number executive positions as shown in the David text to reveal reporting relationships.
  • Develop a new and improved organizational chart for the firm. You may want to change the list given, adding and deleting positions as you deem necessary as well as changing certain titles. Follow the chapter guidelines and do’s and don’ts in devising organizational charts to assist you.
  • Write a 250-500-word overview to detail the specific changes, associated costs, and recommendations you made.

Submit all parts of the assignment as one deliverable.

Be sure to cite three to five relevant and credible sources in support of your content. Use only sources found at the GCU Library, corporate websites, or those provided in Topic Materials.

Prokaryotic cells are very simple, like bacteria. Prokaryotic cells tend to be less organized and more primitive, whereas eukaryotic cells like our skin, liver, and brain cells benefit from the complexity of organization and compartmentalization. Although simple, prokaryotic cells like bacteria are not compartmentalized like human and animal cells, but they seem to function as they need to. Bacteria have been around for millions of years and survive in the harshest of conditions. Is being complex always beneficial? Use the search terms “eukaryotic” or “prokaryotic” at  The Scientist site  and find a recent discovery to share with your classmates. Summarize the article and compare/contrast the articles findings with those of your classmates. ...

Recent discoveries about life forms in extreme environments have renewed scientists’ interest in looking for life elsewhere. Organisms that thrive in a wide variety of harsh conditions –called extremophiles—are broadening scientists’ understanding of the diverse environmental conditions life can withstand. Scientists have had to modify their theories and expand their view of what types of environments are habitable based on the new information presented by the existence of extremophiles.
